Kevin A Ricotta is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers(ACTL). Admission as a Fellow of the ACTL is limited to not more than one percent of the lawyers who are licensed to practice in a state. He has also been selected to the Top Rated Lawyers in Medical Malpractice, Super Lawyers. He has been recognized for his defense of medical malpractice cases by Buffalo Business First and the Buffalo Law Journal. Mr. Ricotta is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a 1982 graduate from Notre Dame Law School. As a law student, Mr. Ricotta was Student Director of the Intern Program in the Cass County, Michigan Prosecutor’s Office, and while still in law school, personally tried several cases to verdict under Michigan Court rules.
In 1982, Mr. Ricotta associated with the Buffalo law firm of Brown & Kelly, LLP and began practicing in the insurance defense field. He became a general partner in 1986. In 1991 he joined the firm of Connors & Vilardo and concentrated his practice in the defense of medical malpractice claims. In 2001, he formed his own firm specializing in the representation of physicians and hospitals in litigation of healthcare claims and proceedings. He has extensive litigation experience and is a lecturer on civil litigation for the New York State and Erie County Bar Associations. He is counsel to the Eighth District Dental Society and frequently lectures on risk management to dentists, physicians and hospitals throughout Western New York and the Southern Tier.
Mr. Ricotta is a member of the Erie County, Northern Chautauqua County, and New York State Bar Associations, and the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association. He is a former member of the Judiciary Committee of the Erie County Bar Association and has served as Chairman of the Membership Committee. From 2003 to 2012, Mr. Ricotta was a voting member of the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. Mr. Ricotta is admitted to practice in New York State and before the United States District Court for the Western District of New York.
